Helen L. (Samuelson) Osborn

December 13, 1930 ~ June 15, 2016 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Helen L. Osborn, 85, of Tidioute, PA., passed away from this life to the next one on June 15, 2016 at the home of her daughter surrounded by and cared for by her loving family.

She was born in December of 1930 to Carl A. Samuelson and Mary Etta McGinn Samuelson in Pittsburgh, PA. She later moved to the Adamsville area and graduated from Jamestown High School.

She married C. Eugene Osborn on May 21, 1951. He preceded her in death on September 14m, 1999.

Helen attended Edinboro University. She was a township secretary at the time of the tornado in Atlantic in 1985 and then went on to work for F.E.M.A. for the next 25 years until the age of 80. She worked disasters all over the country and U.S. Territories where she was known by some as the Queen of F.E.M.A. She was a 60 year member of the Rebecca's Lodge and was a member of the Atlantic Congregational Church.

She is survived by one sister, Jane Brousseau and her husband Ron, of Falls Church, VA.; three sons, Timothy E. Osborn and his wife Gerry, of Hartstown, PA., Terry W. Osborn and wife Marie, of Canonsburg, PA., and Douglas 0. Osborn and his wife Kim, of Atlantic, PA., and one daughter Dianne T. Gray and her husband Jim, of Atlantic, PA. She has eight grandchildren: Seth, Gayle, Shayna, Matt, Katelyn, Erica, Ryan, and Lindsey and ten great grandchildren. She is further survived by her brothers-in law Leo and Larry Osborn and her sisters-in-law Linda Myers and Becky Osborn.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Samuelson, sisters-in-law Virginia Nottingham and Pauline Osborn, and brothers-in-law Brian Myers and Glen Nottingham.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Crawford County Inc. whose help was priceless and so appreciated. 

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville. Respecting the wishes of Helen there will be no calling hours or memorial service/. Memorials can be made in her name to Hospice of Crawford County or the Atlantic Congregational Church.
