Ronald W. Grafton, Hadley (Sandy Creek Twp.) passed away early Tuesday evening, January 17, 2017 at his residence following courageous battle with cancer. He was 77.
He was born in Kittanning, Pa on July 9, 1939 a son of the late Clarence and Violet (Bowser) Grafton. On March 27, 1965 he married the former Alma M. Baumcratz who survives. He was a 1959 graduate of the Kittanning High School, Ron had served with the Army National Guard from 1962 -1968, he went onto work for 34 years at the PPG Plant 8, Meadville from which he retired in 2002. He was an active member of the Sheakleyville United Methodist Church and The Hadley Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed maintaining and keeping his yard looking its best, his old truck and tractor, hunting and was a sports enthusiast being a staunch and avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He is survived by his wife Alma of 51 years, a son Randy A. Grafton and his wife Joyce of Blacklick, Ohio, Two daughters, Tammy D. McQuaid and her husband James “Hugh” of Sandy Lake and Lisa M. Grafton of Warren, Ohio. A niece, Colleen Mantini and her husband Roch of Ford City, Three grandchildren, Destiny Grafton, Jacob McQuaid and Jenna McQuaid.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Zelma McCabe and two brothers, Harold Grafton and Duane Grafton.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the Sheakleyville United Methodist Church, 3269 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Rev. Timothy Bowser officiating. The interment will follow at the Sheakleyville Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville on Friday from 2:00-6:00 pm and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
