Rollin B. James, Sandy Lake, (New Vernon Twp.) passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Tuesday morning, May 26, 2020. He was 88.
Rollin was born in Mercer, PA. on June 30, 1931 a son of the late Charles Tracy and Sarah Alice (Beggs) James. He was a graduate of the Sandy Lake High School Class of 1949. He went onto serve with the
U. S. Army in the nuclear division. On November 4, 1961 he married the former Mary Alice Conner who had preceded him in death on April 3, 2003. He was a lifelong farmer on the family farm in New Vernon Twp. He was a member of the Mercer County Holstein Association and had served as an officer, the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and was the Farmers Liaison with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources, along with many other agricultural associations.
Mr. James was a member of the Lakeview Church of God, where he had served on many committees over the years. He was strong in his Christian faith sharing the gospel message through his association with the Mercer East Camp of the Gideon’s International and through his involvement with Prison Ministries. He enjoyed going out to meals on Friday evenings with his family and friends. Always looked forward to the times he could be with the ROMEO group - (Retired Old Men Eating Out).
He is survived by a son, Dennis R. James and his companion, Michaelene Ann Vincent, Columbus, OH.; two daughters, P. Marie Kohr and her husband Kevin, Sandy Lake and Laura Gannon and her husband Michael, Harrington, DE.; a brother, William Charles James and his wife Shirley, Sandy Lake; a brother in law, Max Conner and his wife Mimi, Fl.; three very special grandchildren, Brooke, Morgan and Summer Gannon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
The family will be honoring the life of Rollin B. James with private family services at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville, with Chuck Mowry, a special family friend officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Fairfield Cemetery, New Vernon Twp. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family online at www.snyderfh.com.
