Obituary

Richard A. “Rick" Arbuckle, Greenville, (Perry Twp.)  passed away with his family by his side Saturday evening, September 16, 2023, at the UPMC, Passavant, Pittsburgh.  He was 72.

He was born in Meadville on August 13, 1951, a son of the late George E. “Gene” and Pauline D. (Voorhies) Arbuckle.  He had served honorably with the US Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany.  On March 17, 1988, he married the former Diane C. Copeland, who survives.  In his early years, Rick was employed by the former Rusco, Cochranton, the former GTI, Hadley, and Systematic Tool and Progressive Tool, Meadville.   He then went on to be employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections at the Mercer State Correctional Institution retiring in 2016.

Rick had a passion for and deep appreciation of automobiles, he enjoyed attending car shows and watching NASCAR.  After many years of searching, Rick was finally able to locate and assume the proud ownership of a Red 1969 Ford Gran Torino.  He enjoyed gardening and took exceptional pride in the care and maintenance of his lawn.  His garage was his second home, where he would spend hours with his many friends, working on projects or simply just tinkering around.  He loved his cat, “Sunny” who quickly became his companion.

Rick is remembered for his cheerful disposition, his always being concerned, and his thinking of others before himself.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; his daughter, Rebecca Arbuckle, Meadville; two sisters, Donna (George) Tedesco, Meadville, and Sharon (Dick) Smith, Conneaut Lake, and a brother Randy (Becky) Arbuckle, Guys Mills.
