Philip E. Hoobler, Sheakleyville passed away Thursday morning, February 29, 2024, at the UPMC, Horizon, Greenville. He was 91.
He was born in Sheakleyville on October 17, 1932, a son of the late Lester and Rose (Morian) Hoobler. Mr. Hoobler served honorably with the US Army during the Korean Conflict, having been stationed in Greenland. On July 12, 1951, he married his wife of 72 years, the former Phyllis V. Haines, who survives. He was self-employed in the trucking and excavating business and had been employed by R.D. Werner, Co. for 18 years. He was a very avid hunter and fisherman and attended the Greenville Alliance Church.
In addition to his wife, Phyllis, he is survived by his children, David P. (Debre) Hoobler, Stoneboro, LeeAnn Bowser, Sheakleyville, Neil E. (Sherry) Hoobler) Stoneboro and John T. (June) Hoobler, Cantonment, FL.; two brothers, Gary L. Hoobler, Greenville and Glen A. Hoobler, Sheakleyville; two sisters, Linda K. (Samuel) Packard, Warren, PA., Arlene A. Hoobler, Sandy Lake. 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Rev. Byron Dickey, pastor of the Greenville Alliance Church officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Sheakleyville Cemetery. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with an additional hour of visitation on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.
