Mary Janos Obituary

Mary Louise Janos August 24 1928- April 18 2021(age 92)

She was born in her parents’ home on Church Street in Hadley on August 24, 1928 to John E and Twila B (Carringer) Shreffler. She attended Hadley schools and graduated from Hadley High in 1946. She then attended Franklin Business School and studied bookkeeping. She worked at Chicago Bridge and Iron before marrying her husband Robert W Janos on October 18 , 1947 at the Hadley Presbyterian Church. She became a member there in 1937 at the age of nine. She was a devoted servant to the Lord and served in several church offices. These included deacon, elder, treasurer, and financial secretary. She attended worship there until later in life when she joined the Perry Baptist Church.

She enjoyed traveling on bus trips with Andersons as well as yearly (and sometimes more) fishing trips with family and friends to Canada. These trips began with family to her Aunt’s home in Burks Falls where; for a time the family had a lot to use for camping and fishing.

She also enjoyed playing cards and was a member for most of her adult life in a 500 card club that would meet monthly to play cards and socialize.

Always very crafty she will be fondly remembered by many for her homemade gifts. She enjoyed remembering occasions and sending hand decorated cards to family and friends.

After her husband retired from Westinghouse she began working at The White-Cliff Nursing home where she often rode with patients to doctors’ appointments as well as visiting physician offices to help obtain signatures and orders for medical records. She retired from their about 25 years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings; her older sister Roseanna Shreffler Wolfe and an infant sister Margaret Elenore( who died soon after birth 1922) as well as her husband of 67 years.

Surviving are her children; Glen W Janos of Greenville and his fiancé Carolyn Urban-Glessner of Staten Island and Diane L Janos of Franklin and nieces Betty Conn and Joanna Surano and their families. She will also be greatly missed by her Sister- in- law Elda Janos; her children and their families.
