Lawrence A. “Jasper” "Duke” Dickson, passed away Friday afternoon, April 30, 2021 at the UPMC - Presbyterian, Pittsburgh after having suffered a massive heart attack. He was 63.
He was born in Meadville, PA on January 17, 1958 a son of J.K. “Dutch” and Jane (Williams) Dickson. "Duke" as he was known to his many friends, had been employed by Modern Transport, was a self-employed Dairy Farmer, He also had been employed by UDI Gas and Oil and most recently was working for LA Construction, Greenville and Nate Stritzinger Disaster Relief. He had attended the Commodore Perry High School and soon after began a pursuit of truck and tractor pulling. Duke was known through out the area for his mechanical knowledge and skills, he was capable of diagnosing and fixing most any mechanical issue. He always enjoyed his time at camp with the Davison family.
He is survived by his children, Bruce (Madelynne) Dickson, Hadley, Gary (Danielle) Dickson, Greenville, Julie (Michael) Prentice, Clarks Mills and Timothy Alter, Erie; his mother, Jane Dickson, Greenville, his fiancé, Debbie Morrison, Greenville; two sisters, Nancy (Ed) Gassner, Hermitage and Darlene (John) White, Franklin; a brother, Wesley (Linda) Birchfield, Franklin; his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews completed the family circle.
He was preceded in death by his father, a niece, Mary Beth and a nephew, Andy.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville. The interment will follow at the Bell Cemetery. Family and friends may call at funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until time of service.
