Lavern Byler

Lavern Byler, Atlantic, East Fallowfield Twp. was called to his heavenly home on Monday afternoon, January 16, 2023, at his residence.  He was 76.

He was born in Hartville, Ohio on September 8, 1946, a son of the late John and Mary (Yoder) Byler. On April 22, 1965, he married the former Sylvia L. Weaver who survives.  Mr. Byler had been a lifelong farmer and most recently had been employed by Sperry Farms, Atlantic.  He was a member of the Pleasantview Conservative Mennonite Church, Cochranton.  He was an avid outdoorsman who in his earlier years enjoyed hunting and fishing.  His family was his world, and he enjoyed every opportunity to be with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sylvia; his children, Carolyn (Menno) Wagler, Rome, PA, Wayne (Trenni) Byler, Linesville, Jonathan “Jon” Byler, Conneaut Lake, Laura (Raymond) Yoder, Atlantic, Benjamin, “Ben”  (Deanna) Byler, Douglas, WY, Mary (Jacob) Hochstetler, Cochranton and Ruby (Wes) Wengerd, Cochranton; Three sisters; Catherine Borkholder, Middlebury, IN, Susie Yoder, Alliance, OH, and Esther Besse, Massilon, OH; 23 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Vernon Byler, and a brother, Rudy Byler.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Pleasantview Conservative Mennonite Church, County Line Road, Cochranton with ministers, Nathan Miller, Delbert Miller, John Wengerd, and David Weaver officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Pleasantview Mennonite Cemetery, Family and friends may call on Thursday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 PM and 6:00 Pm – 8:00 PM.
