Julie L. (Gehly) Shawkey

Julie L. Shawkey, Hadley (Perry Twp.) passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at the UPMC-Shadyside, Pittsburgh.  She was 60.

She was born in Greenville on August 23, 1961, a daughter of Alvin F. and Nancy J. (Yeagley) Gehly.  She was a 1979 graduate of Lakeview High School.  On April 2, 1983, she married Robert A. Shawkey, who survives.  Julie had been employed by Accuity Delivery Systems as a medical coach auditor.  She had previously been employed in the medical records department at the UPMC Horizon.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Fredonia where she was active in many of the church activities.  Her family was her life, and she always enjoyed the many visits of her three grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; two daughters, Stacey L. (Michael) Hetzel, Kent, OH and Sarah E. (Sean) York, Meadville; her parents, Alvin F. and Nancy J. Gehly, Fredonia; a sister, Linda (Llew) Strachan, Butler and her three grandchildren, Samuel, Layne and Wyatt York.

The funeral and committal service will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville With Julie’s uncle, Art Gehly, Sr, officiating. The funeral service will be lived streamed at www.snyderfh.com. 

Julie will be laid to rest at the Hadley Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 15 from 5:00 -8:00 pm and are invited to share memories and condolences with the family online at www.snyderfh.com
