Joseph Shellenberger, Sr. Obituary

Joseph E. Shellenberger, Sr., Cochranton (Fairfield Twp.) passed away at the Crawford County Care Center early Thursday morning, June 30, 2022.  He was 83.

He was born on Cochranton on September 10, 1938, a son of the late William Lloyd and Margaret (McElhatten) Shellenberger.  On November 13, 1959, he married the former Ruby I. Yoder who preceded him in death on November 19, 2016.  Mr. Shellenberger had been employed by the former Greenville Steel Car and then Trinity Industries. He then went onto work for Advanced Cast, Meadville from where he retired.  He was a member of the Meadville Eagle’s.

He is survived by 2 sons, Joseph E. Shellenberger, Jr and his wife Christine of Mobile, Alabama, Austin Lloyd Shellenberger and his wife Bernardita of Cochranton; two daughters, Tonja Lee Stoll and her husband Walter Sposkoski of Townville and Terry Jean Kope of Sandy Lake;  2 sisters, Roselyn Hamilton, Flower Mound, TX and Clara (Don) Mitcham, Cochranton, 12 grandchildren, Tamara Stoll, Brett Stoll, Katie Lane, Rose Lane,  Joseph E. Shellenberger, III, Joanna Robinson, Zembria Dilley, Shakira – Lynn Scott, David Simpson, Jr., Travis Griffen, Brian J. Kope and Lakken Kope and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ruby; 2 sisters, Marilyn Miller and Hannah Bovard; 3 half - brothers, Edward (Jim) King, Austin Shellenberger and Maitland Shellenberger and a half sister, Ellen Russell.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Greenfield Cemetery, Atlantic.  Family and friends may call at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville on Saturday, July 2, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
