John L. Yoder formerly of Meadville passed away early Wednesday morning, May 31, 2023, at the Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown where he had been residing. He was 83.
He was born in Crawford County on July 6, 1939, a son of the late William P. and Mary (Borntrager) Yoder. He was a graduate of the Crawford County Vocational School and went on to pursue a career in Tool and Die working at several local shops. He was of the Christian faith. John had served honorably with the US Army in the 1950s and was stationed in Greenland where he operated heavy equipment. He had a love for music and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar in several local bands. In his time at the Crawford County care center, he would design and work with paper to make airplanes.
He leaves behind two sons, Jonathan Yoder, Lima, OH, and Gabriel Yoder, Pittsburgh, and two sisters, Mary Yoder, Bristol, OH, and Susie (Daniel) Lehman, Goshen, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Edward Yoder.
The funeral and committal service will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Rev. David Eames, retired officiating. John will be laid to rest next to his brother and parents at the Maple Grove Amish Mennonite Cemetery, Deer Creek Twp. Family and friends may call on Monday, June 5, 2023, at the funeral home from 11:00 – 1:00 PM.
