George R. Scofield, Hadley, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020. He was 91.
George was born in Sandy Creek Township on November 10, 1928 a son of the late Cecil and Hazel (Fisher) Scofield. He married the former Harriet Thomas on July 3, 1954. George had been employed by Talon, of Meadville before he started Scofield Auto Wrecking in 1954. He also served as the Fire Chief for the Sheakleyville Volunteer Fire Department for several years.
He is survived by his wife Harriet; three sons, Raymond (Brenda) Scofield of Sandy Lake, Ronald (Sheila) Scofield of Sheakleyville, and Robert (Kim) Scofield of Meadville; five grandchildren, Jessica Scofield, Justin Scofield, Amanda (Jason) Sealand, Marc (Amanda) Shook and Kaitlynn( Tyler) Scofield; and five great grandchildren, Brooke and Bailey Sealand, Cody and Kiley Shook and Anayka Scofield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Laura Shook; a grandson, Zachery Shook; two sisters, Dorothy Forney and Dolly Vosler; and a brother, William Glenn Scofield.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Rev. Theresa Robison, pastor of the Sheakleyville United Methodist Church officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Sheakleyville Cemetery.
