Frederick D. Saunders, Greenville formerly of Delaware Twp., passed away early Friday morning, October 20, 2023, in the comfort of his home. He was 74 years old.
He was born in Sharon on January 23, 1949, a son of the late James Frederick and Erla Blanche (Gill) Saunders. On October 22, 1971, he married his wife of 52 years, the former Deborah Mong, who survives. Fred was a self-employed contractor and there was nothing he couldn’t fix or build. He had served honorably and dutifully with the US Navy for 4 years, serving aboard the USS Enterprise, the USS Saratoga, and the USS Ranger, during the Vietnam War, he was very proud of his service to our country.
He was an avid sportsman, enjoying, golf, bowling, hunting, and fishing. Mr. Saunders is remembered as a good neighbor, friend, Dad, and husband, always willing to lend a hand. He was a very warm and giving man, whose goal in life was to make people smile. He loved visiting with his neighbors and friends at Aunt Ginny’s Fredonia Diner.
In addition to his wife, Deborah, he is survived by two children, Rebecca Deanne Saunders and her partner, T.J. Sandell, Erie and Timothy M. Saunders, Greenville
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Terry L. “Beach Ball” Saunders.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care and compassion provided to Fred and the family by staff of Helping Hands Home Care Services, Hermitage.
Respecting the wishes of Fred, no services are scheduled.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia.
