Obituary

Condit T. North, a resident of St. Paul’s Senior Living, Greenville formerly of Fredonia passed away Tuesday evening, May 23, 2023, at the home.  He was 91.

He was born in Fairview Twp. on December 26, 1931, a son of the late Condit M. and Mary L.  (Turner) North.  On September 19, 1953, he married the former Marjorie Greer who preceded him in death on November 19, 2013.  He had served honorably with the US Army following the Korean Conflict.  Mr. North retired as the plant manager in 1996 from Sakrete, Fredonia Division following 42 years of service.  He had also served as the Fredonia Borough Tax Collector for 25 years and was a member of the Fredonia Presbyterian Church where he had been an Elder for over 40 years. His community involvements included serving on the Board of Directors for the Millbank Cemetery, a member of the Fredonia Volunteer Fire Department, and serving as a Mercer County Republican Committeeman for 15 years.  He was a Mercer Hebron Lodge # 575 member, receiving his 32 degree in 1963.  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and water skiing, and had worked for the former Donald E. Bleakney Funeral Home, Fredonia.  Above all his family was his pride and joy. Over the years he appreciated the faithful companionship of his several dogs.

He is survived by his two daughters, Diane (Paul) Weller, Transfer, and Kathleen “Kate” Subasic, Fredonia; a brother, John C. (Jean) North, Irving, TX, a sister, Juliana Hopper, Mercer; a sister-in-law, Janet North, Greenville; a brother-in-law, Allen “Pete” (Deanne) Ogden, Erie; three very special grandsons, Matthew (Meghan) Weller, Fairview, Christopher (Mallory) Weller, Transfer and Steve Subasic, Fredonia, and two great grandchildren, Payten and Camryn Weller, Transfer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Marjorie; two brothers, Reed North, and William North; a son-in-law, George Subasic, a sister-in-law, Eldora North and a brother-in-law, Dan Hopper.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at St. Paul’s Senior Living for the excellent care that was provided, Condit considered the staff to be his extended family and was always most appreciative of the care he was given.

 The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Fredonia Presbyterian Church, Water Street, Fredonia with Rev. Eric M. Peters officiating, He will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Millbank Cemetery.  Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 26, 2023 at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 AM.

The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to the Fredonia Presbyterian Church.
