Cliff D. French, Mercer (Coolspring Twp.) passed away, early Saturday afternoon, September 18, 2021, at the Sharon Regional Health Center. He was 63.
Cliff was born in Ellwood City on November 22, 1957, a son of the late Clair and Margot Polke) French. On March 10, 1997, he married the former Bonnie L. (Mathieson) McElwain.
Cliff had retired as a truck driver having last worked for Yourga Trucking, Inc. He had served dutifully and honorably with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Fredonia Vol. Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing and most important to him was the times that he could be with his family.
In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by a son, Marcus McElwain, Mercer; two daughters, Janette Guthrie, Transfer and Sarah Sumner, Sharon; a sister, Jackie Eidenmiller, Ellwood City; eight grandchildren, Dawson McElwain, Mark McElwain, Halie Gonloff, Madison, Hannah and Logan Link, Braylon Sumner and Khylan Sumner and two great grandchildren, Issac Gonloff and Leilani Schuller.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia. Cliff will be laid to rest at the Millbank Cemetery with military honors.
