Carl Heckman Obituary

Carl E. Heckman, formerly of Fairview Township, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Greystone Country Estates, Fredonia. He was 97. 

Carl was born in Fredonia on April 6, 1925, a son of the late Ernest and Edna (McKay) Heckman. He married the former LuVerne M. Gehres on May 26, 1950,she preceded him in death on February 15, 2010. 

Carl raised beef cattle and farmed all his life. He also went on to be a School Bus Contractor and driver for Lakeview School District for 44 years. He also worked for Damascus Tube in Transfer and was an elected Fairview Township Supervisor. He served honorably in the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post of Fredonia.  

He is survived by his children, Edward E. Heckman and wife Theresa of Ellicot City, MD, Bruce A. Heckman and wife Rebekah of Meadville, Dale V. Heckman and wife Lisa of Grove City; two sisters, Eva Lewis of CA, Ila Ayre and husband Raymond of Hermitage; seven grandchildren, Karyn Tasker and husband Tim of MD, Kimberly Fusco and husband Ben of MD, Shannon Heckman of Meadville, Brandi Coast and husband Zac of Franklin, Lauren Polanek of Hadley, Aaron Heckman of CA, Lindsey Polanek of Grove City; and seven great grandchildren, Samantha Tasker, Caroline Fusco, Allison Fusco, Natalie Fusco, Amadeus Heckman, Konstantin Heckman and Briella Coast. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Richard C. Heckman and two sisters, Treba M. Heckman and Betty Palm. 

A funeral service with military honors will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 169 Second Street, Fredonia, with Pastor Jerry McCloskey officiating. He will be laid to rest at Millbank Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, from 4:00-8:00pm and 10:00am - 11:00am time of service on Wednesday February 1, 2023.
