Betty Jane (Heckman) Palm

Betty J. Palm, 93, of Lexington, MA, and Saunderstown, RI, formerly of Fredonia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, after an extended illness. Born on August 8, 1928, in Fredonia, she was the youngest daughter of Ernest and Edna McKay Heckman.

Betty graduated from Stoneboro High School in 1946 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Grove City College in 1950. After graduation she worked as a chemist at the Mellon Institute, Pittsburgh, PA.

She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Paul E. Palm, whom she married on June 19, 1954. She was a member of the Lexington United Methodist Church.

Surviving is a daughter, Mary Jane Palm of Saunderstown, RI and her spouse; a son, David P. Palm of Lexington, MA and his family; a sister, Ila M. Ayre and her husband Ray of Hermitage; a brother, Carl, of Fredonia; a sister, Eva Lewis, of San Diego, CA; and nine nieces and nephews and their families.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 12 -2 pm at The Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 169 2nd St., Fredonia, PA 16124. The funeral service will follow at 2:00pm with the Rev. Eric M. Peters officiating.  Betty will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Millbank Cemetery, Fredonia.
