Victor L. Riley, formerly of Greenville and Clarks Mills passed away Early Monday morning, November 19 2018 at the Quality Life Services, Mercer. He was 89.
He was born in Hadley on December 18, 1928 a son of the late Raymond and Sylvia (Stevens) Riley. On June 10, 1950 he married the former Marian J. Yarnell who preceded him in death on September 25, 2007. Victor had served honorably with the U.S. Army and was involved in the Occupation and Rehabilitation of the Japanese state following W.W.II. He had retired as a maintenance worker. He had been a member of the Greenville American Legion Post 140. He had previously served as the fire chief of the Thonotosasso Volunteer Fire Department in Hillsborough County Florida.
Victor is survived by a son, Steve Riley and his wife Millie of Greenville; two daughters, Vicki Mills of Greenville and Cindy Mogus and her husband Joseph of Lewisville, OH; a brother, Dale Riley and his wife Dee of Ashtabula, OH; two sisters, Joyce Kaltenbaugh of Clarks Mills and Barbara Kingen and her husband Gary of Brooksville, FL.; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Trudy Riley; 4 brothers, Homer L. Riley, Robert “Red” Riley, Walter Riley and Wilbur Riley and a sister, Lily Rulhman
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Friday (11/23) at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville to be concluded with Military honors accorded by Reynolds VFW Post 7599. Inurnment will follow at the Stevenson Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 – 3:00 and 5:00-7:00 pm and are invited to share memories and condolences with the family online at snyderfh.com
