Sharon Lee (Bothun) Northcott

Sharon Lee (Bothun) Northcott, Hempfield Twp., Greenville (formerly of Fredonia) passed away at 10:07 am on Monday, February 20, 2017 at her residence with her family by her side.  She was 75.

She was born in Lanesboro, MN, a daughter of the late Arden James Bothun and Lois Amdahl Bothun Guerinni. On August 24, 1957 she married Donald James Slater who preceded her in death on January 28, 1966.  She then married, Mike J. Shardy on March 23, 1968.  On September 10, 2003 she married Glenn R. Northcott who preceded her in death on December 25, 2013.

Sharon and her husband Don owned and operated the Slater Grocery Store in Fairview Twp. and she continued operating the store until she received her beautician license, after which she operated a beauty shop out of her home in Fredonia.  Sharon enjoyed reading, shopping, beading and was a faithful fan of her grandchildren’s activities.  She enjoyed monthly card clubs and was the Inspector of Elections for Fredonia Borough for 30 years.  Sharon’s favorite holiday was Christmas and she enjoyed collecting Santa Clauses.  She was a longtime member of the Fredonia United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Greg J. (Marjorie) Slater,Sr., Greenville, Brian S. ( (Lori) Slater, Hadley; a daughter, Jennifer L. (John) Forbes, Greenville.  Two sisters, Betty K. (Fred) Junk, Greenville, Patty (Carl) Fattman, Greenville, Two brothers, Gary (Carole) Bothun, Greenville and James (Brenda) Bothun, NC.  8 grandchildren, Donald Slater, Daniel Slater, Greg Slater, Jr, Corey (Sarah) Slater, Rachel (Chad) Schrader, Joshua, Jason and Jessica Forbes.  Two great grandchildren, Brice Slater and Ava Slater.  Step grandchildren, Ryan Conover and his son’s Aiden and Maverick and Emily and Dan Lescovak and their son Dylan and very special friends, Carol and Don Seidle as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband’s Donald Slater and Glenn Northcott, her father Arden Bothun and mother Lois Guerrini and step father Carl Guerrini, a sister Jackie Lewis and a nephew Tye Bothun.

The funeral service for Sharon will be on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Fredonia United Methodist Church, Liberty Street, Fredonia with Rev. Tina Keller officiating.  The committal service and interment will follow at the Millbank Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the Robert L.
