Sallie F. Warden

Sallie F. Warden, Hadley, PA (Perry Twp.) passed away peacefully at 6:00 am on Sunday, May 7, 2017. She was 88.

Sallie was born in Girard, Ohio on January 12, 1929, a daughter of the late Charles T. and Roberta D. Fisher. She graduated from Liberty High School and then attended Youngstown State University. Sallie first worked in accounting for a large department store in Youngstown, Ohio. After marrying the love of her life, James R. Warden on June 24, 1950, she devoted herself to making a home and raising her two sons, Charles A. Warden and James "Tip” Warden. She lived with her family in Liberty Township near Youngstown until the family moved to Hadley, PA in 1969. Sallie was an avid reader and especially enjoyed poetry and science fiction novels. She also had a love for gardening, flowers and craft work, and was a long time member of the Nor-Hill Garden Club. Sallie’s home was always filled with music and she was particularly fond of classical music and opera. She was loved by her family and friends and will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her two sons, Charles A. Warden and his wife Tracy of Pittsburgh and James "Tip” Warden of Hadley; four grandsons, Evan J. Warden and his wife Joanna of Pittsburgh, Steven E. Warden and his wife Mariel of Pittsburgh, Patrick C. Warden of New York City and Weston T. Warden of Pittsburgh; two nieces, Katherine L. Keith of Mars, PA and Sallie Ann Keith of Painesville, Ohio; two great nephews, Michael K. Nelson, Pittsburgh and James D. Nelson, Pittsburgh.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Janet C. Keith and on September 12, 1990 by her husband.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home, 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Pastor Bob Offerdahl, family friend and retired Presbyterian minister. Private family interment and committal service will follow at the Conneautville Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm time of service.
