Paul D. Kerchin

Paul D. Kerchin, Cochranton (Greenwood Twp.) formerly of McKees Rocks passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018 in the comfort of his home. He was 69.

He was born in McKees Rocks, Pa on August 22, 1949 a son of the late Joseph F. and Mary (Sassno) Kerchin.  He was a graduate of the Sto - Rox High School.  On May 7, 1994 he married the former Connie S. Lesh who survives.  Paul began his working career at the Shenango Industries, Neville Island, he then went onto study culinary and had been employed by Marriot at the Allegheny College and the former Sandilini’s Restaurant, Meadville. He then went on to be employed by PennDot, attached to the Meadville yard where he had retired following 18 years of service.  He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Cochranton.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and had a love of cooking, canning, gardening and maintaining and taking  great pride in his property.

One of the proudest moments in Paul’s life was when he received the Uansa Muha Award from his hometown of McKees Rocks, where he was recognized and  still remembered today as # 42, from having been a half back on the Stowe High School and later known as Sto - Rox High School football team

In addition to his wife of 24 years, he is survived by a daughter, Karrie Ann Kerchin and her husband Al Waltz, McKees Rocks; a son Jason Kerchin of McKees Rocks, a step daughter, Angela Newman and her husband Scott of Cochranton;  4 grandchildren, Jordan Waltz, Nicole, Dante and Nino Kerchin;  4 step grandchildren, Chase Newman, Chelsea Newman, McKenna Newman and Mason Newman; a step great grandson, Brady, Dignall Newman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Joseph “Butch” Kerchin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Cochranton at 11:00 am. With Rev. Daniel Prez, pastor of the church officiating. Family and Friends may call at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville on Wednesday from 2 :00-4:00 and 7:00- 9:00 pm and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 am until 10:45 am and are invited to share memories and condolences online at www.snyderfh.com  A Scripture Service will conclude visitation on Wednesday at the funeral home at 8:45 pm.

The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to either the Yolando G. Barcco Oncology Institute. Meadville or to the Crawford County Hospice.
