Opal Mae (Vosler) Benninger

Opal Mae Benninger, Greenville (West Salem twp.) passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving and caring family on Thursday evening, January 24, 2019.  She was 95.

She was born in Salem Twp. on February 4, 1923 a daughter of the late Donald and Hellen M. (Osborn) Vosler.  On December 18, 1943 she married James A. Benninger, Jr. who had preceded her in death on July 12, 2011.  She was a homemaker and a member of the North Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church, Greenville. 

She was a painter of nature and is remembered for her countless hours of painting beautiful wildlife and outdoor scenes with a particular interest and focus in painting birds.  Opal’s love for her Lord and Savior was evidenced by her passion and support for missions both domestic and abroad.

She is survived by a son Dan A. Benninger and his wife Patricia of Denver, Co;  2 daughters, Janet A. Churchill and her husband Ronald  of Greenville and Nancy J. Benninger of Greenville; a sister, Lois Wanita Chandler, Jackson Center; a brother, Glen A. Vosler and his wife Maxine of Greenville;  2 grandsons, Marc E. Churchill of Taiwan and Eric D. Benninger and his wife Laura of Denver, Co. and a great granddaughter Madison Paige Benninger of Denver, Co.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 67 years and two brothers, Gail W. Vosler and Neal H. Vosler.

The Funeral service and committal service will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the North Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church, 190 Osborn Road, Greenville with Rev. Michael D. Marshall officiating.  The interment will follow at the Stevenson Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 1:00-2:00 pm and are invited to share condolences and memories with the family online at www.snyderfh.com. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville. 

The family has suggested that memorial tributes be made to the North Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church for missionary support, 190 Osborn Road, Greenville, PA. 16125
