Nancy Axtell Obituary

Nancy A. Axtell, Hempfield Twp., Greenville passed away at her residence following a brief illness on Monday, March 19, 2018.  She was 81.

Nancy was born in Greenville on March 22, 1936 a daughter of the late Charles Victor and Dorothy Marie (Williams) Robinson.  Nancy was raised by her grandparents, Ralph and Clara Williams.  She graduated from the former Penn High School and went onto attend the former Sharon School of Nursing from where she received her Registered Nursing degree.  She had been employed by the former Greenville Hospital retiring from the UPMC Horizon, Greenville Campus in 1998 after over 50 years of service.   Nancy was married on July 7, 1957 to Richard Albert Axtell and he preceded her in death in April, 2003. She was a member of the Zion Reformed Church – United Church of Christ, Greenville.  She enjoyed traveling, gardening and crafts and always centered her life around her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by a son, Cris A. Axtell and his companion, Bobbi Schwab of Greenville; a daughter, Leslie A. Moore and her husband James of Greenville; a brother, Ralph Robinson and his wife Margaret of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a half brother, Frank Vanderslice and his wife Charla of Greenville; 3 grandchildren, Christian Hoeck, James Moore, Jr and Jessica Moore all of Greenville; 5 great grandchildren, Christian Hoeck, Jr., Jocelynn Hoeck, Kayson Duttry, William Taub and Andreya Moore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a half brother, Robert Vanderslice and his wife Polly and her beloved dog, Cindy.

At the request of Nancy, no public visitation or services are being held. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family online at snyderfh.com
