John R. “Gig” Boyles, Saegertown passed away peacefully at his residence early Christmas morning, December 25, 2019 with his loved ones by his side following a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. He was 57.
He was born in Grove City on August 8, 1962, a son of John Thomas Boyles and C. Jane McQuiston. “Gig” as he was known to his family and friends, had been employed throughout the years at various local employers. He had served with the U.S, Army and later with the Army Reserves. He enjoyed visiting and socializing with his many friends at the various clubs and organizations that he had belonged. He enjoyed playing softball and pool. He was affectionately referred to as the “Grill master” for his love and passion for cooking and always enjoyed the many family cookouts. He was an avid outdoorsman who always enjoyed getting away to the hunting camp with his friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bear hunting.
He is survived by his fiancée, Edie Linz, Saegertown, his father, John T. Boyles, Guys Mills; his mother, C. Jane Gilliand and her husband Ed of Meadville; a brother, George Boyles and his wife Diane, Cochranton; a step sister, Susan Beers, Meadville and many special friends, cousins and other family members.
John will be laid to rest at the Cochranton Cemetery with private family services held with Rev. John McGarvey, pastor of the Cochranton Christian Missionary Church officiating. A Celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family online at www.snyderfh.com.
