Gerald R. McCann

Gerald R. McCann, Cossitt Road, Transfer, West Salem Twp. passed away early Tuesday Morning, January 9, 2018 at the Greystone Estates, Fredonia.  He was 85.

He was born in Fredonia on August 12, 1932 a son of the late Urban P and Martha (Schiestle) McCann. 

He had been a life long dairy farmer on the family homestead in West Salem Twp., had been employed at the former Greenville Steel Car and had been a salesman for Combined Insurance where he achieved recognition as being the top salesman for several consecutive years.  He was a member of the Dairy Herd Improvement Association and the St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church.

He is survived by his former wife, L. Charlene of S.C. , 4 sons, Gerald Matthew McCann and his companion Lauren Nugent of Greenville, Stephen Mark McCann and his fiancée Kathy Walker of Hadley, Kevin Luke  McCann of Erie, Eric John (Brenda) McCann of Greenville, 3 daughters, Mary Therese (Greg)  Hamilton of Greenville, Christine Marie McCann of Greenville and Anne Maureen (Mike) Wansor of Greenville. 2 sisters, Dolores Rinella of Sharpsville and Louise (Kenneth) McKnight of Clark.   18 , several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 brothers, William McCann, John McCann, Clifford McCann, Regis McCann, Robert McCann, Frank McCann, Donald McCann and Joseph McCann and 6 sisters, Marie Swartz, Patricia Kulka, Irene Reash, Helen McCann, Lorene Miles and Eleanor Metelsky.

The funeral service for Gerald will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2017 at 5:00 PM at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Deacon Frank Luciani of St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church officiating.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 – 5:00 pm.  Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at snyderfh.com
