Frank R. Thompson, Jr. Hadley, (Perry Twp.) passed away Friday Morning, October 5, 2018 in the comfort of his home. He was 72.
Frank was born in Greenville on September 28, 1946 a son of the late Frank R. and Mabel (Knauff) Thompson, Sr. On June 8, 1968 he married the former Dianne J. Clark who survives and who together they had recently celebrated 50 years of marriage with the renewing of their vows. Frank was a U S Army veteran having in the Vietnam War. Frank was very proud of his service to his country having endured a 13 month tour of duty in Vietnam.
Following his military service he returned home and began working with his father in law, S.B. Clark Plumbing and Heating, his working career continued with the former Chicago Bridge and Iron, Greenville, Spang Power Electronics, Sandy Lake , Trinity Industry, Greenville and then with Kasgro, New Castle from where he had retired. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his family and the time that he could share with them, especially enjoying his grandchildren. He enjoyed and appreciated the companionship and loyalty of his dog Button.
In addition to his wife, Dianne, he is survived by his children, Kurtis R. Thompson, Hadley and Melissa D. Thompson and her fiancée Rick Mathieson, Grove City; a brother, Kenneth L. Thompson, Greenville and two grandchildren, Paeden Crouser, Grove City and Lane Barber, Stoneboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sisters, Juanita Chevalier and Joyce Thompson.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 6:00 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy. Sheakleyville with pastor Brad Devine, family friend officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 -5:00 pm and are invited to share memories and condolences online at snyderfh.com
The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to the American Cancer Society for Myeloma Research or to Strayhaven, Greenville.
