Donald C. Shipton

Donald C. Shipton, Fredonia (Delaware Twp.) passed away early Monday morning, November 11, 2019 at his residence.  He was 88.

He was born in Franklin, Pa. on June 10, 1931 a son of Stanley Shipton and Ellen Plummer Shipton.  He had been raised by his mother and stepfather Amos Walton. On September 18, 1954 he married the former Charlene M. Witt who had preceded him in death on February 1, 2018.  Don had been employed by the former Greenville Steel Car and Ampco, Pittsburgh from which he had retired.  He then went onto serve as a township supervisor for Delaware Twp.  He was a member of the Fredonia Presbyterian Church and the Harthegig Conservation Club.  He appreciated the loyalty and companionship of his dog Jay.

Don is survived by two sons, Donald Shipton and his wife Michelle, Greenville, Charles Shipton and his wife Diana, Farrell and a daughter Brenda Irwin and her husband Scott, Fredonia; a son in law, James Albaugh, Fredonia;  9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step father, Amos Walton; his wife of 63 years; 2 daughters, Beth Albaugh and Ginger Oskin; a grandson, John Sernik; 5 siblings, Paul (Bud) Shipton, Robert Shipton, David Shipton, Clara Mae Snyder and Sandy Fry.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Fredonia Presbyterian Church, Water Street, Fredonia with Rev. Eric Peters officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am time of service. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Ball Cemetery, Delaware Twp.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert L.
