Carolyn Thompson Obituary

Carolyn Mae Lucas Thompson, 82 of Mechanicsburg, PA passed away on Monday, afternoon, August 20, 2018 at Country Meadows of Mechanicsburg..  She was 82.

She was born in Franklin, PA to Emery and Isabel (McDaniel) Lucas on May 8, 1936. She was a graduate of the former Sandy Lake High School and then went on to attend the Edinboro University with a full ride scholarship in Art Education.   She had been married John Marshall Thompson and together they had celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on June 25, 2018

She had taught school at Guys Mills, PA and Doctor’s Inlet, FL  Carolyn and John moved to Jacksonville and Tampa, FL after graduation and then moved to Mechanicsburg, PA in 1962 where she waitressed at Howard Johnson’s, then worked as a substitute teacher and later became the art teacher at Grace Baptist Christian School, Carlisle, PA.

In 1978, she opened a small typesetting firm that grew into a graphic design company called C&J Enterprises which then evolved into a full-service printing company which her son eventually took over.

Carolyn was a member of New Covenant Fellowship Church, Mechanicsburg, PA and Zonta Club of Harrisburg-Hershey.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: John Thompson, II (Patrice) and Michele Wierman (Dale); Grandchildren: John Thompson III and Kristen Wierman and her sister Mary Joyce Murray (Ron), Houston, TX

Carolyn is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and devoted wife and a very talented artist. She was a beautiful and sophisticated woman who had travelled the world accompanying her husband and was an inspiration to her children and all those who knew her.  She was a master hostess and event planner

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Wayne Lucas.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, August 27 at 11:00 am  at New Covenant Fellowship, 4500 Creekview Rd., Mechanicsburg, PA 17050 .  Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Sheakleyville Cemetery, Sheakleyville, PA.
