Gerald R. “Jerry” Dull, Fredonia, Delaware Twp. passed away Saturday evening, April 6, 2024, at the Villa at St Paul Senior Living, Greenville following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 86.
He was born on April 11, 1937, in West Sunbury, PA, a son of the late Ralph and Pearl (Carothers) Dull. He was a 1955 graduate of Slippery Rock High School where he played basketball and baseball. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1956 and served honorably. On July 11, 1959, he married his wife of 64 years, the former Marilynn Riggs, who survives Gerald Had retired from the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad on May 1, 1997, after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Fredonia United Methodist Church.
Mr. Dull was a founding member of the Reynolds Athletic Boosters Club and a life member of the Greenville Elks.
In addition to his wife, Marilynn; he is survived by a daughter LuAnn Ringer, Greenville, and a son, Barry L. (Laurie) Dull, Mentor, OH., two grandchildren, Salena (Greg) Hann of North Versailles and Shawna (Coy) Abercrombie. Christiana, TN, and three great-grandchildren, Cole Hann, Parker, and Charlotte Abercrombie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Eugene (Helen) Dull and Ward (Doris) Dull, and three sisters, Vera (Leon) Briggs, Wanda (George) Keller, and Maxine (Harry) Allison.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 1:30 PM at the Fredonia branch of the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 169 Second Street, Fredonia with Rev. Tina Keller, pastor of the Fredonia United Methodist Church officiating. Mr. Dull will be laid to rest at the Millbank Cemetery, Fredonia. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Military honors will be accorded by the Greenville American Legion Post # 140 at the conclusion of the funeral service.
