Willis H. Taylor

February 25, 1926 ~ October 22, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Willis (Bill) Hays Taylor passed away at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA on Oct. 22, 2017 surrounded by family. He was 91. He was born February 25, 1926 in Greenville, Pa to the late Lloyd and Nettie (McClure) Taylor. He loved his farmland in Jackson Center where he lived until 2013 when he moved to Erie to be closer to his family.

Mr. Taylor was a WWII US  Army Veteran where he served as a Gun Crewman in Central Europe receiving a bronze Star among other metals. He graduated from Penn High in Greenville, Pa where he was a wrestler and class officer. He had a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Thiel College and a Masters in letters from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a teacher in Mercer, Pa, where his students still comment how much they loved him. Bill was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Jackson Center, a very loving man, whom enjoyed long walks on his farm, all animals, especially his dogs, cats and horse. He loved to write and visit with people.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Virginia (Robert) Stull and his half brother Nelson (Ann) Taylor. He is survived by his nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be private. Arrangement are entrusted to the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street Fredonia, Pa 16124. Memorial contributions may be made to a horse rescue facility, Blended Spirits Ranch, 7401 McCray Road Fairview, Pa 16415.
