Rodney Eugene Shook, 82 years old of Ohle Road , Perry Township, Clarks Mills passed away at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh on February 28, 2017.
Born on February 28, 1935, son of Everett Shook and Myrtle Gibson Shook. On September 11, 1954 he Married Ethel Marie Slater.
He attended Hadley schools and served in the US Army in Peace Time. He worked as a mechanic, carpenter and retired as an owner-operator truck driver. His most memorable experience as a truck
driver was hauling the pace car for PPG for the Indy Circuit. He loved spending time outdoors cutting grass and firewood. Also, he loved spending time with his family and car races. He was a member of Emmanuel Christian Church
He is survived by his wife, son Dale Shook and his wife, Beth, of Clarks Mills; two grandchildren, Justin Shook and his wife Heidi of Clarks Mills and Danielle Nunemaker and her husband George of Sheakleyville; three great-grandchildren, Megan Haun, Mason Shook and Adalyn Nunemaker; sisters-in-law Donna Shook of Hadley and Charlene Shook of Texas; brother-in-law Bob Williams of Delaware; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ted Shook, Don Shook, Jerry Shook and Gail Shook; sister Jackie.
The funeral and committal service for Rodney will be on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Robert l. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Rev. Tim Clark, pastor of Emmanuel Christian Church officiating. Military Honors by Reynolds VFW Post # 7599 will follow at the funeral home. The interment will be at the Hadley Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Friday from 2:00 -4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm and are invited to share memories and condolences with the family online at snyderfh.com
The family has suggested that memorial contributions can be sent to the Kidney Foundation.
