Myrtle J. Burns, Mercer formerly of Fredonia passed away at 4:26 am on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the Avalon Springs Nursing Center, Mercer. She was 98.
Myrtle was born on August 22, 1918 in Greenville, a daughter of the late Otto E. and Charlotte M. (Cole) Swartzbeck. On June 25, 1940 she married Floyd Ralph Burns who preceded her in death on February 22, 2007. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church, Mercer. Myrtle also was active in the Blue Star Mother’s of Fredonia and the Fredonia – Del Homemaker’s
She is survived by her son, Ralph O. Burns and his wife Doris of Fredonia; three grandchildren Diana Burns of Fredonia, Christopher Burns and his wife Denise of Fredonia and U.S. Naval Commander Kevin Burns and his wife Jenny of Silverdale, Washington; 3 great grandchildren, Holly Burns and Heather Burns of New Wilmington and Emerson Burns of Silverdale, Washington and a step grandaughter Taylor Perry of Fredonia.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, her husband, 2 brothers, Otto Swartzbeck and Karl Swartzbeck and a sister Anna Brocklehurst.
The funeral and committal service will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 2:00 Pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia.Myrtle will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Delaware Cemetery.
