Matthew Ryan Edney

Matthew Ryan Edney, 550 E. Jamestown Road,  Greenville (Greene Twp.) passed away unexpectedly Monday, afternoon ( April 18, 2016) at his residence.  He was 33

He was born in Greenville on September 2, 1982,  a son of Ralph D. and Marilyn (Shepard) Edney.  He was a 2001 Reynolds High School graduate and had attended classes at Thiel College during his senior year.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association, was a life long HIV survivor, who would self educate others about the risks as well as the facts and myths associated with being HIV positive.  He was a member of the North Salem United Methodist Church.  He was a passionate supporter all military veterans and would always make his appreciation known to them.

Matthew enjoyed the companionship of his dog, GZ Marie.

He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Edney and her companion Lenny Chess of Greenville. A brother, David Starry and his companion Tina of Greenville and a niece, Emmaleigh Eakin of Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph D. Edney, his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Marie Shepard and his paternal grandparents, John Homer and Betty Edney.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy. Sheakleyville.  Cremation has been selected as disposition.  A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.snyderfh.com.
