Mary E. (Shafer) Sanders

Mary E. (Shafer) Sanders, Baker Hill Road, Delaware Twp. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at her residence.  She was 81

Mary was born in Mercer on May 4, 1935 a daughter of the late Frank and Olive (Pew) Shafer.  She had been employed by the former Fredonia Florist, In her earlier years had worked at the former Mason Department Store, Hermitage and as a  coil winder for Westinghouse Electric.  She was a member of the Clark United Methodist Church and the Countryside Garden Club.

She is survived by two sons, James Sanders and his wife Beverly of Transfer and Gary Sanders and his wife Becky of Fredonia. A daughter, Terry Wimer and her husband Martin of Fredonia, 5 grandchildren, Joshua Sanders, Greenville, Heidi Sanders, Fredonia, Gary Sanders, KY, Jill Sanders, Jacksonville, FL, Nicole Fenton and her husband Craig of Sharpsville and Jennifer Boyd and her husband Brad of Transfer. 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, a sister, Betty McCrory and two brothers, Francis Shafer and Lee Shafer.

The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia with Rev. Tina Keller, pastor of the Big Bend United Methodist Church officiating.  The interment will be at the Millbank Cemetery, Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and may share memories and condolences online at snyderfh.com. 

The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to any pet rescue shelter.
