Martha Marie Shepard

Martha Marie Shepard, 110 Fredonia Road, Greenville formerly of Salem Twp. passed away at 7:42 pm on Friday, June 26, 2015 at the White Cliff Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was 96.

She was born in Stoney Point, Crawford County on June 30, 1918 a daughter of the late James Lynn and Mabel (Williams) Thomas. On May 15, 1940 she married Lawrence R. Shepard who preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 1992.  She was the 1st born child of 15.  Marie as she was known to her family and friends was a homemaker and had served on the Election Board of Salem Twp. for over 16 years.  She was a member of the North Salem United Methodist Church since 1940.

She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Edney and her partner Lenny Chess of Greenville, 2 sons, William J. Shepard and his wife Judy of Greenville and Kenneth D. Shepard and his wife Penny of Hadley, a step son, Ralph L. Shepard and his wife Thelma of Jamestown. Three sisters, Roma McConnell of Greenville, Ruth Lohr of Meadville and Harriet Scofield and her husband George of Sheakleyville. 1 brother, William “Pete” Thomas of Atlantic.  7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren and 19 step great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 7 brothers, James Lynn Thomas, Jr., Raymond Thomas, Duane Thomas, Robert Thomas, Oakley Thomas, Harvey Thomas and Mason E. Thomas. 3 sisters, Waeta Campbell, Laura Bailey and Twila Doza.

The funeral and committal service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Rev. Timothy Bowser, pastor of the North Salem United Methodist Church officiating.  Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Greenfield Cemetery, Greenwood Twp.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM 1:00 PM time of service and may share condolences and memories with the family online at www.snyderfh.com.

The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to the North Salem United Methodist Church, 352 Quinter Road, Hadley, PA 16130.
