Welcome to the memorial page for

Lois (Blood) Stallsmith

September 11, 1931 ~ January 9, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Lois Stallsmith, 85, of East Pines Road, Deer Creek Township, passed away in the early morning hours of January 9, 2017 at Meadville Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Conneaut, Ohio, to Edgar and Mary Blood on September 11, 1931, she worked at offices in the big city (Cleveland), but preferred idyllic, tomboyish summers on the farm of her grandfather near Clarks Mills.  She met her husband, Donald, at the Sheakleyville Homecoming, and the two were wed on July 16, 1955.
She also worked as a receptionist for Chicago Bridge and Iron and as a nurse’s aide at St. Paul’s Nursing Home, but spent most of her life as a farm wife, mother, and homemaker. A dedicated Christian from her youth, Lois served as the treasurer for the West Fairfield Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Always practical, she built home additions and her own computers, repaired household appliances and wounded farm animals, and indulged in such diverse hobbies as photography, philosophy, and genealogy.  She had what she called “the best garden of her life” last summer before she entered the even more abundant heavenly one.
Lois is survived by her husband, Donald Stallsmith, and her children Brett Stallsmith of Hadley, Audrey Stallsmith of Hadley, Karen Jackson of Conneaut Lake, Aleta Anthony of Hadley, Loren Stallsmith of Hadley and his wife Liza, and Carter Stallsmith of Atlantic, as well as by her sisters Wilma Sawyer, Betty Holmstrum, Nancy Mullins, Norma Wheeler, and by her brothers Richard Blood and his wife Maria and Bill Blood and his wife Betty.
She also leaves sixteen beloved grandchildren:  Alan, Randy, Erika, Cody, Summer, Victoria, Tansy, Leah, Patrick, Maggie, Lynora, Natasha, Logan, Trevor, Dylan, and Savannah.  Lois was preceded in death by two infant sons, Randy and Kent Stallsmith, and by her brothers, Edgar Blood Junior and David Blood.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Rev. Harold Troyer, pastor of the West Fairfield Wesleyan Methodist Church officiating.  The committal service and interment will follow at the Sheakleyville Cemetery, Sandy Creek Twp.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from  6-8 pm and on Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.  Memories and Condolences may be posted online at www.snyderfh.com
