Eilleen V. (Carone) Furey

Eilleen V. (Carone) Furey, age 81 of Greystone Country Estates formerly of Sheaklevyille lost her final battle with cancer on December 20, 2016 at 6:35 am.

Eilleen was born in Dravosburg, on August 3, 1935 a daughter of the late Nicholas and Gertrude (Young) Carone.  On December 20, 1971 she married her loving husband Joseph Furey who preceded her in death on April 12, 2013.  Eilleen was a homemaker , owned and operated a ceramic shop in Sheakleyville and Furey’s Mobile Home Park.  She was of the Methodist faith.  Italian’s are known for their hospitality and Eilleen was no exception.  Many a relative, neighbor, friend and even an occasional stranger enjoyed a meal at her table.  She loved people and loved to cook.

 Eilleen is survived by two son’s Edward Furey and his wife Judy of Greenville and Bruce Furey and his wife Nancy of Morrow, Ohio, 5 daughters, Linda Sernik, Sheryl Shevlin and her husband Gary of Waxhaw, NC., Karen Bradley of Sheakleyville, Mary Brenneman of Hermitage and Dorothy Beil and her husband Jeffrey of Greenville.  A brother, James Carone of Stoneboro, 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph Furey, two daughters, Raeanne Schmidt and Deborah Snyder along with two brothers and a sister.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Greystone Country Estates for the love and care that they showed to Eilleen.

In honoring Eilleen’s wishes private family services were held for the family at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Pastor Earl Dykes of the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church officiating.  Following cremation Eilleen will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Hadley Cemetery.
