Dorothy E. (Bruce) Patterson

Dorothy E. Patterson, Fredonia Road, Stoneboro formerly of Indiana, Pa. passed away at 9:20 am on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the Avalon Springs Nursing Center, Mercer.  She was 93.

Dorothy was born on December 4, 1921 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Zachariah and Carrie (Burnheimer) Bruce.  On January 16, 1946 she married Francis Patterson who preceded her in death on February 13, 2007.    She had been the cafeteria supervisor for the Indiana School District . Dorothy was a member of the Indiana Wesleyan Methodist Church and had attended the Zion Wesleyan Methodist Church, Stoneboro.

She is survived by her two sons, Roger Patterson and his wife Kay and Wesley Patterson and his wife Janice both of Stoneboro. A half sister, Sarah Coleman of Queensbury, NY and a brother John Bruce and his wife Betty of Indiana.  5 grandchildren, Beth Patterson, David Patterson, Darren Patterson, Jonathan Patterson and Pamela Stence and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Franklin Bruce, a sister, Hazel Bell Deemer and a half sister Eleanor Keffer.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville with Rev. G. Samuel West, pastor of the Zion Wesleyan Methodist Church officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.  Calling hours will also be held on Monday, at the Indiana Wesleyan Methodist Church, 1201 Church Street, Indiana from 2:00- 3:00 pm where a brief service and committal prayers will be held at 3:00 pm officiated by the Rev.
