Doris Ann VanMeter, Condit Road, Sandy Lake (Deer Creek Twp.) passed away at 4:22 pm on Monday, September 14, 2015 at her residence.  She was 94.

She was born in West Middlesex on August 29, 1921 a daughter of the late Nickolai and Anna (Ranich) Kovacevic.  On October 19, 1946 she married James Robert VanMeter who preceded her in death on December 12, 2000.  She was a homemaker and had worked with her husband on the family dairy farm in Deer Creek Twp. In her early years she had worked during WWII at the Universal Castings, Pittsburgh.  She was a member of the Fairfield Presbyterian Church who she was active in the Ladies Presbyterian Ministry and the Angels in Action Prayer Shawl Ministry.  She was a lifelong supporter of the St Jude’s Children Research Hospital.  She also had been a Hadley Boy Scout Troop # 78 Den Mother for twelve years.

She is survived by two sons; Timothy VanMeter and his wife Kathleen of Bailey, CO, J. Alan VanMeter and his wife Jamie of Sandy Lake, a daughter; Debbie Lee Consiglio of Sandy Lake., 2 sisters; Darlene Mistovich of Sewickley and Dorothy Minnich of Beaver, 3 sister in laws; Lucille Ridenour of Tucker Plains, OH, Bisa Kovacevic and Dora Kovacevic  both of Aliquippa.  5 grandchildren, Shawn (Stefanie) VanMeter serving with the US Navy in San Diego, James Robert (Shawna) VanMeter of Pine, CO, Jennifer VanMeter and her fiancée Oystein of Denver, CO, William (Eliza) Consiglio of Sandy Lake and Alana VanMeter of Sandy Lake, 4 great grandchildren, Chaney VanMeter , Hadley VanMeter Morgan VanMeter and Crossifino Consiglio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 brothers, Daniel, David, Donald and Delbert Kovacevic.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Fairfield Presbyterian Church, 41 Deer Creek Road, Sandy Lake with the Rev. Brian Ennis, pastor of the church officiating.  The committal service and interment will follow at the Fairfield Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville on Friday from 7:00-9:00 pm and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 time of service and may share memories and condolences with the family online at www.snyderfh.com.
