Doris E. Bestwick

Doris E. Bestwick, formerly of Coolspring Road, Fairview Twp, Mercer passed away early Tuesday Morning, January 9, 2018 at the Avalon Springs Place, Mercer where she had been a resident.  She was 81.

Doris was born in Guys Mills, Pa. on Jan. 27, 1936 a daughter of the late Forest L. and Marjorie B. (Rickard) Bidwell.  On April 25, 1953 she married Jack F. Bestwick who preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1999.  Doris had been employed as an Administrative Assistant for the Mercer County Area Agency on Aging, Inc. having retired in 1989.  She was a member of the Coolspring Presbyterian Church where she actively participated in church activities and had served as a deacon.  She had served on the NE. Democratic Committee  for 30 years.  Doris enjoyed gardening and the moments she was able to visit with her family and friends. Doris along with her husband were avid shuffleboard players and were members of the Florida State Shuffleboard Association who had recognized them as being shuffleboard semi pro’s

Doris is survived by a son, Dale Bestwick of Mercer; Two daughters, Deborah E. Snyder of Stoneboro and Donna R. Bestwick of Woodbridge, VA.  A sister, Beverly (Robert) Kennedy of Tavaes, FL.; two brothers, Robert Bidwell of Green Valley, AZ. and Gary Bidwell of Meadville.  3 grandchildren, Kelly Snyder, Stoneboro, Jason Snyder, Norwood, PA., Nicholas and Kelly Schroth, Mercer and two great grandchildren. Alexander J. Schroth and Francis G. Schroth, Mercer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son in law Ronald J. Snyder.

The funeral and committal service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia with Rev. Mark L. Frailey and Rev. Philip Chalfant co- officiating.  Doris will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Farivew Twp.  Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm  and are invited to share memories and condolences online at snyderfh.com
