Carl E. Maurer, First Street, Fredonia passed away peacefully in the comfort of residence with his family by his side after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at 1:15 am on Monday, April 11, 2016. He was 59.
Carl was born in Somerset, Pa. on April 9, 1957 a son of the late Roy E. and Betty L. (Seib) Maurer. He was a 1975 graduate of the Reynolds High School and the Mercer County Vo Tech. On July 23, 1977 he married the former DeAnn L. Seidle who survives. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Three Rivers Aggregate, Mercer and had formerly worked for Allegheny Mineral, Slippery Rock, Williams Brothers Trucking, Wheatland and Seidle Sand and Gravel, Mercer. He was an active member of the Fredonia United Methodist Church, The Fredonia Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed helping with the Fredonia Old Home Week. He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting and camping and was a member of the Hartegig Conservation Club, Fredonia, he also had been a little league coach for the community. Carl’s family was his priority throughout his life and he enjoyed and loved his wife, his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, DeAnn; two sons, Adam Maurer and his wife Jen of Fredonia and Mark Maurer and his wife Heather of Fredonia; a daughter, Karla Stanton of Fredonia. A sister, Dorothy (Dottie)Kalchthaler and her husband Paul of Greenville and a brother, Greg Maurer and his wife Esther of Greenville. 6 grandchildren, Rilie and Eric Stanton, Adalynne, DeLaney and Bowen Maurer and Lincoln Maurer and soon to be born grandson Landon Maurer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Fredonia United Methodist Church, Liberty Street, Fredonia with Rev. Tina Keller, pastor of the church officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at the Millbank Cemetery, Fredonia. Family and friends may call at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and are invited to share memories and condolences online at snyderfh.com
