Bonita Ann (Alexander) Riggs

Bonita Ann Riggs, Penn Ave., Greenville passed away at 7:55 am on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the Avalon Springs Nursing Center, Mercer.  She was 76.

She was born in Greenville, PA on March 1, 1940 a daughter of the late James B. and Elsie M. (Gantz) Alexander.  On Dec. 31, 1961 she married Thomas R. Riggs, Sr. who preceded her in death on June 16, 1997. 

Bonnie had attended the Lakeview High School where she was a member of the class of 1959.  She had been employed at the former Mercer County Home as a nurses aid and then went onto work at the former Greenville Hospital where she had retired as the ward secretary in the Intensive Care Unit after 33 years of service. She was a member of the Oak Grove Church, Mercer.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas R. Riggs, Jr. of Annapolis, Maryland and Calvin W. Riggs of Greenville; two daughters, Darla A. Alexander Ritchey and her husband Clint of Stevensville, Montana and Linda M. Riggs Danckwerth and her husband Daniel of Annapolis, Maryland. 2 brothers, James W. Alexander and his wife Patty of Stoneboro and Elton W. Alexander and his wife Jean of Hadley; 3 sisters, Ruth E. Alexander Clark of Stoneboro, Helen M. Alexander Rose and her husband Darrell of Stoneboro and Carolyn "Pete" S. Riggs Witherow and her husband Richard of Hermitage; a brother in law, Gary Fox of Greenville.   21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren complete the family circle along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James B. Alexander and Elsie Gantz Alexander Duck, step father Levi Duck, a sister, Sandra Fox; sister in laws, Evelyn Alexander, Josephine Barr, Ruth Polin, Wanda Sodano and brother in laws Howard Clark, Ralph Riggs and Calvin Riggs.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Oak Grove Church, 10 Oak Grove Road, Mercer with the Rev. Randy Ritchey, pastor of the church officiating.  The interment with committal service will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia on Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm and on Friday at the church from 10:00 am until 11:00 am time of service.  Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.snyderfh.com
